940nm IR LED - 3014 SMD LED

In our LED market, we can call infrared LED as IR LED or LED IR emittier. Normally the wavelength is 850nm or 940nm, there also have other wavelength like 880nm LED, 900nm LED, 970nm LED , 980nm LED ect. Then what's the different between 940nm IR LED and 850Nm IR LED?

1. 850nm infrared LED or 940nm infrared LED means the wavelength emitted by the LED chip. The unit is nm, which belongs to infrared light. It first shows the difference in wavelength.
2. Generally speaking, the higher the wavelength value, the lower the forward voltage drop VF value under the same current situation. Under the condition of 20MA current, the VF value of 850nm IR LED(850nm Through-Hole IR LED or 850nm SMD LED ) is about 1.35-1.55V, and the VF value of 940nm IR LED(940nm Through-Hole IR LED or 940nm SMD LED) About 1.10-1.25V, of course, the VF value will be different depending on the current
3. The 850nm LED has a red burst and the 940nm LED does not have a red burst. The so-called red burst refers to the visually visible red dots on the chip when the infrared lamp is working. So if you need to hide, use the 940nm SMD LED or 940nm LED Lamp is a good choice, but some The customer will use the black colloid 850nm LED to cover up the red burst situation, but if you pay attention to it, the red burst is still visible.

This IR LED got a small size: 3.0mm*1.4mm*0.8mm. Same as the others SMD LED, This is why people called it as 3014 SMD IR LED.
